In the past the village Ghaltakhchi was a part of Alexandrapol, after Leninakan. The village name is connected with the craft of the locals, saddler, which translates from Turkish as ‘ghaltakhchi.
Here were found many things that have reached our days since the bronze, iron ages, the Urartian period.
